🏛️ Origin of the Place Name : Evolution of Names: The region was originally known as "Puthuppally Village Union" and is still registered as "Puthuppally Village." The current name of the Panchayat, Devikulangara, is derived from the local Devikulangara Temple. Naming Theories: One theory suggests the name came from "Puthiya Palli" (New Church/Temple). Another strong historical argument links it to Buddhism, as Buddhist monasteries (Viharas) were locally called Pallis, and evidence of such structures exists in the surrounding Kollam and Alappuzha districts.
